Prior to SDFD he served as a Firefighter/ Paramedic for Bonita-Sunnyside Fire Protection District from 2000 – 2003. Chad is an extremely active and reliable member of this department. Currently serving as a Fire Captain/ Paramedic in our busiest Firehouse, on Engine Company 17. He became a certified Paramedic in 1998 and was promoted to Fire Captain in 2014.</div><div>Captain Willenberg is a Lead Instructor for our Training Division, instructing both and engine and truck company operations for the past 26 fire academies and many In Service Training sessions. He strives to deliver quality instruction to all members. Chad brings respect, integrity, and professionalism to every assignment. He is a leader by example who has worked hard to achieve success in this department.</div><div>Chad became involved in the SDFD Maritime Firefighting Group after he developed and instructed this Department’s first multi-agency shipboard firefighting drill. He coordinated with the US Navy, US Coast Guard and Local Law Enforcement agencies to create a simulated shipboard fire. Through this drill, new policies, procedures, and areas of improvement were identified. Secretary | <div class="ExternalClass779CC060518E4166AF21DC37A8ADC154"><p>Fire Districts North<br></p></div> | <div class="ExternalClassBEE484B0ADCD4426A42548F41A51BC7D"><p>Captain Fox was appointed to the Southern Marin Fire Protection District in October of 2012. He has held the ranks of Firefighter, Engineer and Captain. He currently serves as maritime training coordinator and budget manager.<br></p><p>Captain Fox holds an Associate of Science degree in Fire Science from Columbia Southern University. He has completed all course work for the National Fire Academy's Managing Officers program and in his final year of his Bachelors degree. He held numerous positions for the annual Urban Shield training exercises from participant, to site captain and eventually Maritime Branch Director under Red Area Command. He currently is a one of three Co-Chairs for the Bay Area Maritime Search and Rescue Council (Bay Area SAR Council). Captain Fox is a state certified instructor and has instructed and assisted in planning logistics for numerous Open Water Rescue Boat-Large classes.</p><p>Captain Fox has been a part of many of his organization's additional needs such as: Fire Boat design committee member, training and safety committee member, recruit academy instructor and cadre lead instructor.</p><p>Travis is married to his wife Nicole and together they have a wonderful daughter. Chief Fong has served the citizens of Ventura County for 26 years. Gene’s Fire Service career began with US Forest Service in 1987 departing USFS as an engineer apprentice. With VCFD, he has held the ranks of Firefighter and Captain and promoted to Battalion Chief in 2018.<br><br></div><div>Chief Fong attended Henry M. Gunn High School, and double majored from University of California at Santa Barbara with two (2) Bachelor of Arts degrees. He holds a BA degree in Business Economics and a BA degree in Sociology. Chief Fong serves as an IFSTA committee member with the latest being for the authoring of the Marine Firefighting for The Land-based Firefighter 3rd edition. Gene is the recipient of 8 challenge coins from all over the country including one from the United States Coast Guard. He has also secured over 14 million in grant funding for VCFD and cooperators.<br><br></div><div>Chief Fong has logged several thousand days of offshore sea-time and has passed the USCG 100-ton master mariner certification test. He is a Strike Team Leader, training to the Branch Director, currently opening a task book for Finance Section Chief Type II.<br><br></div><div>In June of 2021, Chief Fong was selected by Fire Chief to serve on the FIRESCOPE Maritime Specialist Group. Being associated with such a prestigious organization is one of Gene’s greatest honors where he works proudly alongside a talented group of fire service professionals.<br><br></div><div>During his time away from work, Gene enjoys spending time with family and friends and engaging in all types of outdoor activity.
